Senior Pathologist EPL, Inc. Raleigh, North Carolina, United States
The pathology report is the primary means by which the pathologist communicates the histopathological findings and how those findings relate to other data from the study, including organ weights, clinical pathology findings, macroscopic (gross) and in-life observations. This session will cover how a pathologist goes about integrating all relevant information into a concise narrative that communicates the test article-related findings in a way scientists and non-scientists alike can understand. The presentation will cover: 1) how the pathologist goes about writing a pathology report; 2) what information should and should not be in a pathology report; 3) strategies for crafting the report based on the target audience; and 4) how a toxicologist might review a pathology report to distill the critical information in a thorough yet timely manner. The presentation will conclude with case studies and interactive polling that will highlight the key points presented.
